This Maintenance Mechanic Leader is located in the Facility and Maintenance services at the VA Providence Healthcare Systems in Providence, RI. This position is full-time at 40 hours per week.
What You'll Do
- →This position serves as a Work Leader for Maintenance and Operations in accomplishing trades and labor work at the VA Providence Healthcare Systems.
- →Duties include but not limited to: Understands the heating systems, boilers, pipefitting, plumbing, electrical work, carpentry and painting.
- →Leads fifteen employees to accomplish trades and labor work.
- →Delegates work instructions from supervisors.
- →Demonstrates proper work methods and starts work.
- →Ensures plans are executed to complete blueprints, material and tools are available and stocked.
- →Sets pace performing non-supervisory work of the same kind and level that is done.
- →Oversees the scheduling of work to keep everyone in work crews busy.
- →Checks work in progress when finished for compliance with supervisors instructions.
- →Answers work questions regarding procedures, policies and written instructions.
- →Provides information to supervisor on status and progress of work.
- →Assures that safety and housekeeping rules are followed and all Life Safety and Infection Control policies and procedures are followed.
- →Serves as the employee responsible for and performing a variety of duties involved in the maintenance of buildings and related structures, fixtures and utilities.
- →Handles routine office matters including credit card purchases and timekeeping, as well as providing temporary VA badges for visitors and contractors working in the hospital.
