This position of Maintenance Mechanic Leader is located at the Cincinnati, OH VA Medical Center in the Engineering Service.
What You'll Do
- →The Cincinnati VA Medical Center (CVAMC) is a two-division campus located in Cincinnati, OH and Fort Thomas, KY serving 15 counties in Southwest OH, Northern Kentucky, and Southeast Indiana with 6 Community Based Outpatient Clinics located in Bellevue, KY; Florence, KY; Lawrenceburg, IN; Hamilton, OH; Clermont County, OH, and Georgetown, OH.
- →The CVAMC also supports two off main campus locations in the Cincinnati area via an Eye Center and Mental Health Outreach Community Division.
- →Major Duties: Under the direct supervision of the Equipment Maintenance Shop Supervisor, the incumbent will assist in the following: Passes on to other workers the instructions received from Supervisors and gets work started by assigning job tasks to crew members.
- →Works along with other workers and sets the pace of work to be done.
- →Estimating cost and writing specifications for replacement of equipment and improvements.
- →Performs lay-out of work task and assignments.
- →This includes interpreting and working from written specifications, blueprints, sketches and oral instructions.
- →Provides oversight of equipment repairs and new installations of building service equipment ensuring proper installations and methods.
- →Coordinates between Engineering Service other services when scheduling planned utility shutdowns or major facility or equipment repairs (including but not limited to oxygen, steam, water, sewage systems, electrical etc.).
- →Assists project engineers with work performed by contractors by scheduling shutdowns and other operational requirements for maintenance and repair or installation of steam, water or electrical systems and equipment.
- →Assists supervisor in establishing deadlines and work expectations.
- →Plans sequence of operation for subordinates.
- →Sees that there is enough work to keep everyone in the work crew busy.
- →Maintains current working knowledge, and answers questions of other workers on procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives, for example, technical orders.
