About the Role
Maintenance Mechanic Lead position works in the building maintenance/minor renovation unit in Engineering Service located on the campus of the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center, Mountain Home, TN Health Care System.
What You'll Do
- →As the Maintenance Mechanic Lead, the incumbent's duties include, but are not limited to The incumbent will performs trades work at the WG-10 journeyman level.
- →Completes maintenance work orders that are approved by the unit Supervisor.
- →The incumbent troubleshoots and performs repairs on various building systems as necessary to maintain normal clinic operations.
- →The incumbent serves as the first responder to second shift calls from facility administration for engineering assistance: Independently triages, troubleshoots, and repairs, or calls in additional resources, as necessary.
- →The incumbent will have Engineering assistance which is required for this position, it can be of multiple trades, including, but not limited to, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.
- →The incumbent will lead three or more workers to accomplish trades work.
- →Performs work alongside those employees.
- →The incumbent will maintain consistent courteous relationships with the Supervisor and with coworkers, and contributes to the effective operation of the unit.
- →Ability to use or operate tools, equipment, or machines of varying difficulty.
- →The incumbent uses a variety of tools such as saws, hammers, metal, and wood files, augers, shovels, paint brushes, spray guns, torque wrenches, feeler gages, planes, skill saws, radial arm saw, band saws, chain saws, joiners, electric sanders, pantographs, voltmeter, ohmmeter, fuse tester, etc. in the performance of assigned duties.
- →Incumbent is also involved in the moderately skilled use of general and some specialized tools and equipment of various building trades.
- →The incumbent uses power tools of the pipefitting trade.
- →Uses hand and portable power tools of the carpentry trade and shop woodworking equipment.
- →The incumbent uses hand and power tools of the plumbing trade.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
