These three positions are located in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, in the Division of Maintenance and Construction. Sequoia National Park- Ash Mountain 1 Vacancy - Permanent Fulltime (year-round) Sequioa National Park - Lodge Pole 1 Vacancy - Career-Seasonal (see "Duties" section for more information about Career-Seasonal appointments) Kings Canyon National Park - Grant Grove 1 Vacancy - Permenant Fulltime (year-round).
What You'll Do
- →At the full performance level (WL-09) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Organizes and assigns work, sets priorities on routine and/or special projects, inspects work, assures all work meets applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
- →Works with staff, sets the pace of the work, reviews daily work reports, and develops plans, specifications and detailed cost estimates for interior and exterior maintenance of park facilities including preservation maintenance and renovations to historic structures and other cultural resources.
- →Assists with the preparation of procurement documents and makes direct purchases of supplies and materials required for the work.
- →Directly performs non-supervisory work in a variety of trades related to the construction, maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings and related fixtures and utilities including principally: carpentry, plumbing, painting, masonry, roofing, electrical.
- →Career-Seasonal Information: The Sequoia - Lodgepole position is a Career-Seasonal position and subject to release and recall procedures.
- →A permanent career-seasonal position includes all the benefits of permanent employment, but does not provide employment on a full year-round basis.
- →As such, selectee will be in a non-pay/non-duty status for at least 2 pay periods per year based on project requirements or weather conditions.
- →Selectee is guaranteed to work at least 48 weeks per year but not more than 50 weeks per year, with the work schedule to be determined upon appointment.
- →The typical season for Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks is February to December, but can be variable during these months due to project requirements or weather conditions.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship required.
- ✓Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- ✓Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- ✓You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required.
- ✓You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record.
- ✓You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.
- ✓You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards.
- ✓A uniform allowance will be provided.
- ✓You may be required to travel overnight away from home occasionally.
- ✓You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.
- ✓Government Charge Card: You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority.
