About the Role
You will serve as a MAINTENANCE MECHANIC with Western Fisheries Research Center located either at: Western Fisheries Research Center- Seattle or Columbia River Research Laboratory-Cook Cook Salary: $30.86 per hour (Step 1) to $31.63 per hour (Step 5) Seattle Salary: $34.83 per hour (Step 1) to $40.63 per hour (Step 5) Pay will vary based on duty location. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate. See below under Additional Information for more information.
What You'll Do
- →Maintain accurate maintenance and equipment records by updating logs and entering data into approved systems.
- →Perform facility operations and maintenance for all buildings and grounds which includes a wide variety of trade skills in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, plastering, pipefitting, heat and air conditioning.
- →Install, modify, and repair new and existing utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment such as sewage, water, oil, and gas distribution systems; water closets and fire sprinkler systems.
- →Operate various power and hand tools such as portable drills, clippers, joiners, shapers, sanders, power activated nail guns, combustion type saw.
- →Serve as contracting officer representative.
- →Maintain government purchase card in accordance with bureau and agency guidelines to purchase goods, services, and construction needs, and materials.
- →Working Conditions: The work is performed inside and outside with exposure to all kinds of weather.
- →The work area may be dirty, wet, dusty, and greasy, with inadequate lighting, heat or ventilation.
- →Incumbent is subject to cuts, abrasions, burns, broken bones, electrical shock, infections, bites, exposure to inhalation or harmful chemical fumes, irritation of eyes, skin and respiratory tract, and the hazards of operating power tools and equipment.
- →Discomfort is encountered with wearing protective clothing, gloves, or eye goggles.
Requirements
