This position is aligned under the Preventative Maintenance and Repair (PM&R) section, Facility Management Division, at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center, Milwaukee, WI (695) - a Level 1b Complexity VHA Facility. The position functions as the Maintenance and Operations Supervisor, Preventative Maintenance and Repair (PM&R) shop and has full responsibility for supervision of 17 employees.
What You'll Do
- →Responsible for direct supervision of Maintenance Mechanic Work Leaders, Industrial Equipment Mechanics, Welders, Electricians, Pipefitter/Steamfitters, Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic and Carpenters.
- →Responsible for planning, coordination, and supervision of the operation and maintenance of HVAC building service equipment and associated systems.
- →Establishes priorities and deadlines based on general work schedules, methods, policies, and code requirements.
- →Estimates and orders materials for operations, maintenance, repair, improvements to boiler and air conditioning equipment systems and structures.
- →Guided by federal, state, and VA Regulations, engineering principles and trade practices and governing codes.
- →Participates in final inspections of all new projects concerning equipment operations/maintenance (including hospital side systems), assigned utility systems, and special equipment installations.
- →Reviews and analyzes completed work, reviews incurred costs, and unanticipated difficulties/delays to evaluate work processes, cost controls, and to anticipate and/or avoid problems.
- →Develops, implements, and/or modifies methods and procedures to ensure proper equipment operation/maintenance and continual improvement of operational program activities.
- →Has the delegated authority to implement and recommend promotions, reassignments, or other status changes of subordinate personnel including overseeing attendance and leave.
- →Inform employees about policies, procedures & management goals relating to the work of the team.
- →Reviews work orders and determines personnel and methods to accomplish work.
- →Utilizes automated computer software for day to day operations, such as but not limited to Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, VISTA, VATAS, AMES/MERs, etc Must obtain and maintain Level 2 Contracting Officer Representative (COR) Certification required to manage service contracts for the shop that the position is responsible for.
- →Work Schedule: Monday-Friday with a rotating tour of 6:00 am - 2:30 pm for two weeks and then 12:00 pm - 8:30 pm for two weeks, and may be required to be present to provide off-hours support for utility outages, maintenance and projects support.
