The Locksmith Worker reports to the Infrastructure Shop Supervisor of the Maintenance & Operations Section within Facilities Management Service at the Oklahoma City VA Health Care System. The Locksmith Worker is responsible for repair, overhauling, modifying, testing, and installing a variety of locking devices typically found on doors, desks, compartments, mobile equipment, safes, vaults, and other secured locations under the guidance of the assigned Locksmith.
What You'll Do
- →Major duties include but not limited to: Performs troubleshooting malfunctioning key components, troubleshooting with locksmith hardware's, and troubleshoot tumble locks and pin locks.
- →Ability to use key cutter, buffing wheels, bolt cutters, and select the right tools size for the job.
- →Performs safety checks and cost-effective practices to keep equipment operational.
- →Practices pertinent codes and standards of the trades.
- →Performs preventive maintenance inspections to determine safety hazards damage and repair requirements.
- →Utilizes and selects correct materials tools and trade methods for repairs Ability to following specifications of locks and manufacturer templates.
- →Understanding keyed alike or master keyed systems, lock-set, and deadbolt kits.
- →Performs emergency service call for end customers.
- →Ability to organize keys with end users.
- →Ability to order and know what inventory is needed.
- →Aligns the original key with a blank; the machine traces the original while cutting the blank to match.
- →Provides a steady workspace with built-in-vices.
- →Ability to bypass damaged locks or remove broken key parts.
- →Performs other related duties as assigned.
