What You'll Do
- →Functions as the institution authority on state of the art security equipment such as locks, locking devices and systems, closed circuit television systems, electric gates, and blueprint and schematic analyzing.
- →Ensures the physical security of the facility as it relates to structural requirements, operations and total familiarization of the life safety codes for the institution environment.
- →Maintains the armory where weapons and ammunition are stored, handled, and prepared for transportation as needed.
- →Analyzes mechanical, electrical, locking systems, engineering blueprints, weapon repair and schematics.
- →Troubleshoots locks and locking devices, and makes necessary repairs using a variety of hand and power tools as they relate to carpentry, electricity, and masonry.
- →Reads, creates and analyzes manufacturers' key codes and cuts keys for institutional use only.
- →Sets up and monitors internal security programs to include instructions and procedures for office closing procedures and locking and unlocking procedures for safes, doors, and vaults.
- →Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution.
- →The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and is performed on a regular and recurring basis.
