About the Role

Corrections professionals who foster a humane and secure environment and ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities.

What You'll Do

  • Functions as the institution authority on state of the art security equipment such as locks, locking devices and systems, closed circuit television systems, electric gates, and blueprint and schematic analyzing.
  • Ensures the physical security of the facility as it relates to structural requirements, operations and total familiarization of the life safety codes for the institution environment.
  • Maintains the armory where weapons and ammunition are stored, handled, and prepared for transportation as needed.
  • Analyzes mechanical, electrical, locking systems, engineering blueprints, weapon repair and schematics.
  • Troubleshoots locks and locking devices, and makes necessary repairs using a variety of hand and power tools as they relate to carpentry, electricity, and masonry.
  • Reads, creates and analyzes manufacturers' key codes and cuts keys for institutional use only.
  • Sets up and monitors internal security programs to include instructions and procedures for office closing procedures and locking and unlocking procedures for safes, doors, and vaults.
  • Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution.
  • The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and is performed on a regular and recurring basis.
