The position performs Laborer duties in support of the Environmental Management Services at the Overton Brooks VAMC. The position is known as the Linen Distribution Clerk and reports to Title Laborer Supervisor. The primary purpose of this position is responsible for Linen processing duties including collecting and removing soiled linen, transporting it, sorting, packing, weighing and tracking it and receiving clean linen and delivering it.
What You'll Do
- →Duties include but not limited to: Performs linen processing duties according to established procedures to ensure clean linen/uniform/patient clothing availability for patients and clinical staff use.
- →Receives clean linen and deliveries according to the established standard operating procedure.
- →This includes unloading trucks via cart, weighing all carts and documenting weights, and verifying cart inventories with laundry invoice.
- →Marks all new hospital linens and linen items for identification and inventory purposes.
- →Keeps work and storage areas neat and clean by sweeping, dusting and mopping.
- →Meets infection control standards by cleaning carts.
- →Total Rewards Brochure: Linen Distribution Clerk Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm (Subject to change due to needs of the facility) Position Description Title/PD#: Linen Distribution Clerk/PD07414A Physical Requirements: Lifts loads of linens and pushes/pulls carts filled with linens weighing up to 800 pounds.
- →Walks, stands, turns, and bends, throughout shift to complete assignments.
- →Lifts and carries stacks of linens, garments, and uniforms weighing up to 50 pounds when restocking linen storage areas.
- →Working Conditions: The position will encounter moderate noise levels and some temperature variables when loading and unloading linens from trucks.
- →Moving carts may present the position with occasional exposure to the change of injury such as bruises as scrapes.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓Suitable for Federal employment, determined by a background investigation Selective Services Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959 Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.
