The Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor in the Mental Health Clinic works with Veterans diagnosed with mental health and/or substance use disorders, delivering evidence-based individual, family, and group counseling, case management, and care coordination as part of an interdisciplinary team. Requires clinical supervision, initiative, prioritization, and a current BLS certificate.
What You'll Do
- →VA Careers - Social Work: https://youtube.com/embed/enRhz_ua_UU Duties include, but are not limited to: Clinical Functions: Conduct initial bio-psychosocial assessments of Veterans.
- →Assist in developing individualized treatment plans with the interdisciplinary team.
- →Implement evidence-based interventions for individuals, families, and groups.
- →Coordinate referrals and community-based services, including VA, federal, state, and community resources.
- →Monitor patient progress and treatment outcomes, documenting in the electronic health record.
- →Support emergency/crisis procedures, including triage, psychiatric admissions, and family contact as needed.
- →Demonstrate basic knowledge of medical and mental health conditions, psychiatric medications, and terminology.
- →Build effective therapeutic relationships with Veterans and families from diverse backgrounds.
- →Contribute to team meetings and interdisciplinary case consultations.
- →Support clinical activities in accordance with VA policy and best practices.
- →Administrative Functions: Adhere to VA, VHA, VISN, and facility policies and procedures.
- →Participate in team meetings, staff development, and local initiatives as directed.
- →Keep supervisor informed of clinical challenges and proposed solutions.
- →Seek guidance appropriately while demonstrating initiative in assigned duties.
