About the Role

The licensed professional mental health counselor assigned as the Primary Care Mental Health Integration (PCMHI) Program coordinator serves as the administrative leader of a multidisciplinary team including nurses, licensed professional mental health counselors, nurse practitioners, doctoral level pharmacists, and licensed professional mental health counselors.

What You'll Do

  • The licensed professional mental health counselor assigned as the Primary Care Mental Health Integration (PCMHI) Program coordinator serves as the administrative leader of a multidisciplinary team including nurses, licensed professional mental health counselors, nurse practitioners, doctoral level pharmacists, and licensed professional mental health counselors.
  • Duties include, but not limited to: In the role of PCMHI Licensed professional mental health counselor Program Coordinator, the Licensed professional mental health counselor has direct and indirect administrative and professional supervisory responsibility for multiple FTEE.
  • He/she is the Supervisor of Record (i.e., signs Performance Appraisals, approves Time and Leave, etc.) for hose staff directly under her / his supervision FTEE.
  • For those staff not directly under his / her supervision, the Psychologist Program Manager provides evaluative input to the discipline supervisor but does not sign the Performance Appraisals.
  • Oversees the daily operation of the program, ensures that agency policies and priorities are being followed; develops performance standards; and evaluates work performance of subordinates.
  • Gives training, advice, counsel, and instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.
  • Hears and resolves concerns from employees and works with Mental Health leadership to address issues that cannot be resolved at a lower level.
  • Prepares and presents requests for resources to the resource Management Committee (RMC), interviews applicants; recommends appointments, promotions, and reassignments to unit positions.
  • Identifies and provides for training needs; and finds ways to improve production or increase the quality of care.
  • He / she also carries out Equal Employment Opportunity policies and program activities.
  • Ensures the efficient operation and provision of PCMHI services to up to multiple Patient Aligned Care Teams (PACT) teams within the Jackson VAMC, 5 PACT teams at a large CBOC, as well as multiple PACT Teams at CBOCs associated with the G.
  • (Sonny) Montgomery VAMC..
  • She/he also ensures that all PCMHI program services are provided in a coordinated and integrated manner with other Mental Health Services, as well as Medical Center specialty programs including: primary care, urgent care, telemedicine, and community-based clinics.
  • Executes supervisory, professional management, and administrative responsibilities that are complex in scope and involve fostering and maintaining working relationships throughout the Medical Center and CBOCs.
