This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
What You'll Do
- →The Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor (LPMHC) serves as a member of the Suicide Prevention Program (SPP) as a Mental Health Complex Care Manager (MH CCM).
- →The MH CCM will be assigned to one of the four outpatient locations of VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Healthcare System (VATVCBHCS) but will provide cross coverage to all ambulatory locations across VATVCBHCS and back-up coverage for SPP staff as needed.
- →Duties include but are not limited to: Assignment as the REACH VET Provider for identified Veterans on the caseload.
- →Attend care team meetings and act as facility liaison for Veterans admitted to community in-patient facilities to facilitate transition back to VA care.
- →In conjunction with the care time, ensuring a Mental Health Safety Plan has been completed and is routinely updated.
- →Provision of evidence-based treatment strategies to at-risk Veterans (e.g.
- →Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Problem Solving Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality, etc.) and completion of specialized training and/or certification in evidence-based treatment for high-risk behavior as needed.
- →Ensuring the identified at-risk, Veterans have been provided with the Veterans Crisis Line 24-hour resource number to call and/or other strategies for receiving assistance if an immediate crisis should occur.
- →Provides consultation to colleagues and students on the psychosocial and psychiatric treatment of Veterans at increased risk for suicide, rendering professional opinions based on experience and expertise and role modeling effective social work practice skills.

- ✓Education - Master's or doctoral degree in one of the following: Clinical Mental Health Counseling; Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling; Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling; OR A related field, from a program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).
