About the Role
A Licensed Practical Nurse at the Loch Raven VA Medical Center serves as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team with selected patients and provides care to them on a regular and recurring basis.
What You'll Do
- →The Licensed Practical Nurse serves as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team with long and short stay resident care and provides care to them on a consistent and recurring basis.
- →The incumbent will prepare and administer prescribed medications and perform treatments according to established policies/procedure.
- →He/she will give complete personal and hygienic care.
- →The Licensed Practical Nurse will also provide assistance with food and fluid intake, recording of I&O's; vital signs, medications, treatments, and patient care.
- →Excellent customer service and communication skills are required.
- →Adheres to computerized patient record system policies and procedures for administration and data entry for vital signs and other patient information.
- →Observes for physical and/or emotional changes in patient's condition from prescribed medications/treatments, promptly and accurately documenting noted changes, and reporting any deviations from normal to RN or MD.
- →Serves as a preceptor in orienting, educating and training less experienced LPN's or nurse assistants/health care technicians related to support duties for these more complex, specialized tests/procedures.
- →Adaptable to the changing needs of the medical center; accepts changes in work assignments readily, recognizing that changes are often needed in providing patient care. ***This position is located at the Loch Raven VA Medical Center*** Preferred Experience: 2 years Long Term Care experience; preferred.
