About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within 4 months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (1 to 5 years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
What You'll Do
- →This position is located on CLC-B which is a locked dementia LTC unit at the Martinsburg VA Medical Center.
- →Duties include but are not limited to; Ability to recognize changes in residents' conditions and the need for intervention which may be of emergent nature requiring immediate attention.
- →Reports of any noted change in patient's condition to RN or MD/DO.
- →Provides effective education to patients and/or family members in relation to common disease processes, medication and prescribed treatment regimes.
- →Knowledge and skill sufficient to prepare, administer and appropriately document actions taken specific to commonly prescribed oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and/or intravenous medications as permitted by approved local facility policies and procedures.
- →Recognizes and appropriately responds to breakage or malfunction equipment, safety hazards, and supply deficiencies promptly reporting to appropriate personnel for corrective action.
- →Actively participates in resident care planning and conferences and recommends changes to the plan of care with the registered nurse.
- →Supports individual resident choices, autonomy and preferred routines in activities of daily living.
- →Performs basic personal care for the resident utilizing standardized procedures and promotes independence in ADL activities.
