About the Role
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) functions as a member of the nursing team and assists the Registered Nurse in the care of patients in acute, subacute, or chronic states of illness. The Licensed Practical Nurse delivers fundamental, knowledge-based care to assigned patients while developing technical competencies.
What You'll Do
- →Duties are not limited to the following: Supports Vaccine Clinic and Vaccine Travel Ensures proper handling, administration and disposal of Vaccines per policy and procedure.
- →Coordinates with NM for Vaccine team travel, delivery, and administration of Vaccines while at the VA Community Clinics (VACC).
- →Works with VACC's NM, clerical staff, and nursing staff during assigned Vaccine travel days.
- →Assists the Vaccine clinic, VACCs, and Primary Care as needed and directed by NM.
- →Documents all procedures provided, completes clinical reminders and completes appointment encounter.
- →Support diagnostic procedure: Receives patients scheduled for the various clinics or arriving for other ambulatory care.
- →Assists patients with getting on and off examination table.
- →Escorts ambulatory patients and transports patients via litter or wheelchair when required.
- →Ensures all specimens are labeled according to hospital policy.
- →Sets up examination room by providing necessary instruments and supplies, ensuring clinic area and equipment is aseptically dean and in order, and assures patient charts and necessary information is available.
- →Assists providers and nurses by supplying needed equipment, providing information such as, vital signs, weight, observations, and information obtained from patient.
- →Assures smooth clinic operations by directing the patient to the appropriate area.
- →Inventories, orders, and restocks needed linens and supplies and reports defective equipment.
- →Detects and reports unsafe work conditions.
Requirements

- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.

- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
