About the Role
The Licensed Practical Nurse positions are located at the Lebanon VA Medical Center within Nursing Services, Primary Care Specialty Services. The primary purpose of this position is to perform a very wide range of patient personal care, support diagnostic services, and chart activities on a regular and continual basis on a surgical, medical, rehabilitation, psychiatric, or long-term care ward or clinic.
What You'll Do
- →Under the supervision of a licensed registered nurse (RN), the licensed practical nurse (LPN) functions as a member of the nursing team and assists the RN in the care of patients in acute, sub-acute, or chronic states of illness.
- →The LPN delivers fundamental, knowledge-based care to assigned patients while developing technical competencies.
- →Major duties include, but are not limited to: Receives patients scheduled for the various clinics or arriving for other ambulatory care.
- →Assists patients with getting on and off examination tables.
- →Escorts ambulatory patients and transports patients via litter or wheelchair when required.
- →Ensures all specimens are labeled according to hospital policy.
- →Sets up examination room by providing necessary instruments and supplies, ensuring clinic area and equipment is aseptically clean and in order, and assures patient charts and necessary information is available.
- →Assists providers and nurses by supplying needed equipment, providing information such as, vital signs, weight, observations, and information obtained from patient.
- →Assures smooth clinic operations by directing the patient to the appropriate area.
- →Inventories, orders, and restocks needed linens and supplies.
- →Reports defective equipment.
- →Detects and reports unsafe work conditions.
- →Uses correct protective personal equipment (PPE) and standard precautions in all areas of patient care.
- →Maintains order and cleanliness in storage and work areas.
Requirements
