About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
What You'll Do
- →Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The primary purpose of the Licensed Practical Nurse is to perform assigned duties in a manner that promotes quality health care, positive customer service, and the maintenance of an environment committed to serving the Veteran.
- →Major Duties include, but are not limited to: Assists with the patient Care problems and deviations in accordance with VA Nursing Practice and LPN licensure standards.
- →Maintains knowledge and skill to care for a wide range of patients.
- →Triages prior to provider's face-to-face visits, nurse visits, telephone triage, secure messaging etc.
- →Serves as a resource for simple/specialized procedures (i.e. non-complex suture/staple removal, non-complex wound care, blood draws, and clinic-specific procedures).
- →Performs sterile procedure setup, venipuncture for blood draws, prepares specimens for transport and processing (centrifuge and serum separation), accessioning of labels, RMD set-up and prepare for sterile processing.
- →Provides patient education about lab tests etc.
- →Recognitions of urgent/emergent patient care needs including hypo/hypertension, infiltration, clotting, cramping, acute shortness of breath, acute chest pain, seizures, stroke symptoms, mental health issues etc.
- →Takes an active role in health promotion and disease prevention to improve patient outcomes.
- →Provides one-on-one group teaching as appropriate.
- →Contributes to the interdisciplinary team, implementation, and evaluation of the treatment plan to promote patient participation and foster patient self-management.
- →All other duties as assigned, pertaining to this occupation, to meet the needs of the Agency, Department, Facility, and/or Service.
- →Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Not authorized.
- →Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not authorized.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
