The LPN must demonstrate an exceptional degree of practical nursing knowledge and skills necessary for concentrated effort and self-direction in carrying out the most complex practical nursing care assignments. Employee exhibits independent technical judgment, critical thinking skills, and the use of independent judgment to carry out complex patient-assigned duties, which include prioritization and coordination of patients seen in the Outpatient Specialty Clinic with minimal supervision.
What You'll Do
- →The Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN), GS-7 performs more complex nursing assignments within their setting.
- →The LPN/LVN possesses comprehensive practical nursing knowledge and skills in specialized procedures and practices.
- →The LPN/LVN GS-7 work is of considerable difficulty and responsibility is performed under general supervision.
- →Individuals in these positions are to a considerable extent, expected to exercise independent technical judgments and to possess and apply a comprehensive working knowledge of the principles, art, and science of practical nursing.
- →Employees at this grade level demonstrate broader knowledge skill with respect to these responsibilities than employees at lower grades.
- →The GS-7 LPN/L VN is responsible for goals and interventions that promote veterans in attaining maximum functional potential.
- →This is accomplished through but not limited to modalities such as ambulation, bowel and bladder training, dressing, grooming, bathing, oral hygiene, range of motion exercises and fall prevention modalities.
- →The incumbent has basic knowledge and skills necessary for a concentrated effort and is somewhat independent in carrying out standardized procedures of limited complexity.
- →The incumbent is responsible to deliver fundamental, knowledge-based care to assigned patients while developing technical competencies.
- →This position may entail other duties as assigned and travel duties as assigned and travel to the community level clinics a.
- →Participates in the interdisciplinary team in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the patient's treatment plan. b.
- →Interacts with patients in groups in accordance with the patient's treatment plan. c.
- →Observes, identifies, and responds to the patients' needs for nursing, medication, and equipment assisted care and recognizes deviations from normal. d.
- →Uses practical knowledge of human behavior, motivations, and reactions to situations in working effectively with patients, family, and other staff members. e.
