About the Role

About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Force Development Flight. This Position is Flexible and may be scheduled 0 to 40 hours per week. Must be able to complete a pre-employment physical. This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situation

What You'll Do

  • Responsible for all technical service operations.
  • Independently performs acquisition duties by implementing established procedures for technical services functions.
  • Assists in the training of new library aides and technicians on technical service tasks.
  • Prepares, verifies, and processes all procurement purchase requests in accordance with AF Library and Information System procurement guidelines, regulations, general library philosophies, and funds procedures for various funding sources as directed by the supervisory librarian.
  • Using established procedures, renews subscriptions.
  • Collects bibliographic data for ordering library materials.
  • Monitors receipt of all items purchased and routinely follows up on outstanding orders.
  • Performs copy cataloging to meet specific library requirements.
  • Reports purchasing/delivery discrepancies to senior technician.
  • Uses automated cataloging resources such as OCLC to obtain and modify catalog records for new library materials in a variety of formats.
  • Ensures catalog records are accurate and current.
  • Downloads cataloging data for materials into the Integrated Library System (ILS) to make the records accessible to library users.
  • Maintains name, series, and subject authority control records.
  • Logs in periodicals and checks for missing issues.

  • This position does not allow for education substitution.
  • FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements.
  • You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
  • It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
