About the Role

The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for a Lead Rehabilitation Technician (Lead Domiciliary Assistant). The Lead Rehabilitation Technician (Lead Domiciliary Assistant) will function within Social Work Service.

What You'll Do

  • The Lead Rehabilitation Technician (Lead Domiciliary Assistant) duties include, but are not limited to: Develops and maintains professional helping relationships with residents.
  • Provides orientation, maintains contact to support behavior and adjustment, and assists residents with physical, mental, emotional, or behavioral challenges.
  • Leads the team and provides the day- to - day (shift) work direction, review, and distribution, balance, and adjustment of workload.
  • Ensures that subordinates work efficiently, leads and reviews subordinates workload and oversees final work product for accuracy and completeness.
  • Clearly explains the team assignments, project, problem to be solved, actionable events, milestones, and/or program issues and review, and deadlines and applicable time frames to complete the work.
  • Coaches and develops the team using appropriate tools and techniques to address a variety of issues and situations.
  • Oversees general administrative issues regarding subordinates' leave, scheduling, appointments, etc.
  • Provides the team formal and informal training information related to safety and security rounding, customer service, techniques, and resources needed to educate themselves about specific issues.
  • Responsibilities include completing safety, security, and privacy inspections, documenting observations, and initiating corrective actions such as work orders.
  • Case Management as necessary.
  • Identifies or resolves resident concerns or refers to appropriate staff.
  • Models appropriate behavior and treats all individuals respectfully.
  • Provides crisis intervention during medical, psychiatric, or behavioral emergencies, assessing situations promptly and securing appropriate care.
  • Reports incidents and refers concerns to VA nursing or Charge Nurses.
