About the Role

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Human Resources Management, Talent Management Directorate, CBP Hiring Center, Pre-Employment Clearances Branch in Bloomington, MN. Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.

What You'll Do

  • In this position you will serve as a Lead Human Resources (HR) Specialist and key technical authority performing complex human resources work requiring knowledge, skills and abilities in recruitment and placement.
  • You will respond to requests and propose complex personnel initiatives to serviced organizations that will meet significant program needs, agency objectives, priorities or legal and regulatory requirements to accomplish critical objectives specific to preemployment requirements.
  • This position starts at a salary of $116,038.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $150,852.00 (GS-13, Step 10) Typical assignments include: Coaching the team in the selection and application of appropriate problem-solving methods and techniques; providing advice on work methods, practices and procedures.
  • Leading the team in assessing its strengths and weaknesses and providing leadership in exploring alternatives and improvements in work methods and procedures; and reporting to the supervisor periodically on team and individual work accomplishments, problems, progress in mastering tasks and individual and team training needs.
  • Providing advice on recruitment and placement issues specific to pre-employment requirements and processes.
  • Developing and reviewing policies and procedures for existing, new or emerging programs.
  • Reviews reports and products pertaining to pre-employment requirements and programs for accuracy and identifies system discrepancies or other required actions.

Requirements
