The Wilmington VA Medical Center is recruiting for a Lead Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (DRT). The Lead DRT has dual responsibilities related to oversight of Radiology clinical operations and direct patient care duties. The Lead DRT is supervised by and works closely with the Radiology Manager on a daily basis.

- →The Lead Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist is supervised by and works closely with the Radiology Manager daily.
- →Duties of a Lead Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist include, but are not limited to: Ensures that adequate quantities of radiologic supplies are available to meet workload demands through a systemized process of ordering, receipt and inventory control.
- →Assures that imaging procedure rooms are stocked with necessary supplies at all times with special attention to emergency equipment and supplies.
- →Assists in determining equipment/inventory needs of Technologists and Radiologists and coordinates new product evaluations.
- →Recommends methods and products to improve quality, safety and where possible reduce costs.
- →Schedule, Time keeping and creation duty rosters: Assists the Radiology manager with creation and posting of work schedules and Technologist assignments.
- →Schedule responsibilities include maintenance of the after-hour and weekend schedules, rotation rosters, contingency coverage, as required by clinic needs.
- →Organizes staff work assignments, including lunch and break rotations such that patient care coverage is continuous throughout the day.
- →Time keeper for their service/division/department and promptly updates vista posting of leave with that information and informs the Manager of unexpected absences that negatively affect clinical coverage.
- →When timeliness or safety of patient care is suboptimal the Diagnostic Radiologic Team Leader is temporarily authorized to reassign Technologists to alternate duties which are within their functional statement.
- →Monitors all aspect in the imaging chain from image acquisition to display of the images on computers screens and Radiologist's PACS stations.
- →Oversee the clinical aspects of the PACS image display analogous to historic film images.
- →Perform a range of clinical PACS oversight duties which include assessing operational status of PACS, transmission of images from the modalities to the PACS, assessing and directing correction of Technologist errors (both quality and process errors).
