What You'll Do
- →Serving as a Law Enforcement Specialist (Firearms Instructor) GS-1801-12 makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) team and mission.
- →This position is located in the Office of the Associate Director for Training Operations, Core Training Operations Directorate, Office of Artesia Operations, Driver and Firearms Training Division located in Artesia, NM.
- →The primary purpose of this position serves as a Law Enforcement Specialist (Firearms Instructor) responsible in planning and conducting classroom, laboratory, and/or field instruction sessions as part of certain training programs.
- →May be required to assist other branches and division.
- →May be required to attend other instructor training programs.Typical duties include: Conducting basic training classes for personnel and plans, coordinates, and executes field training and lab exercises.
- →Monitoring progress of students, documents results, and/or recommends remedial and corrective action to include additional training and changes in training and/or operational procedures and instructions.
- →Evaluates both individual and group performance in various training settings.
- →Conducting research on emerging firearms technology, practices, and techniques to enhance instructional knowledge and skill.
- →Occasionally writes curriculum summaries based upon research for use in updating existing course material and in providing updated student lesson plans.
- →Ensuring that all firearms training program measures and actions taken comply with Federal, DHS and FLETC rules, directives, instructions, requirements, and procedures.
