The primary purpose of this position is: Processing and distribution of textile and linens throughout the North Florida South Georgia Veteran Health System
What You'll Do
- →Duties include but are not limited to: Account for loss or damage to textiles and report it to supervisor Maintain cleanliness of the laundry and equipment and may be called on to perform additional tasks.
- →Manually operate the marking machine in the proper identification of medical center linens.
- →Ability to classify and separate soiled articles into groups according to the various washing requirements.
- →Ability to do several tasks performed in a repetitive sequence.
- →Involved in daily linen counts for linen processed.
- →Manual Dexterity to bag small or fragile items in lieu of marking individually and attaching tags to the bags.
- →Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm Position Description Title/PD#: Laundry Worker/PD06093A Physical Requirements: Laundry workers need strength and stamina for doing heavy physical tasks for long periods.
- →Incumbent must be able to pull wet textiles from washer and place into dry/extractor without damaging them.
- →The incumbent must be able to push heavy cars weighing up to 500lbs.
- →Must be able to lift heavy bundles of linen weighing over 50lbs.
- →Incumbent is required to stand for long periods.
- →Incumbent must be able to kneel, stoop, and bend.
- →Must be able to use both hands and be able to work with hands in water and wet materials constant movement of arms when sorting is to be expected.
- →May occasionally lift heavier objects with assistance and/or mechanical devices as appropriate for safety.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
