The incumbent functions as a Laundry Worker for the Environmental Management Services (EMS) within the Eastern Kansas Healthcare System located in Leavenworth, KS. This position performs work associated with textile care processing and works on a rotating basis performing a variety of duties that deal with identification of specifics related to laundry, the unloading, sorting in accordance with classification procedures and other related processes.
What You'll Do
- →Feeds sheets, towels, etc. into the flatwork ironer.
- →Catches, folds and stacks articles as they emerge from the ironer.
- →Prioritizes work depending on delivery schedules and availability of linen items.
- →Loads flatwork linens into bulk carts for deliveries.
- →Folds rough dry textiles according to established procedures.
- →Keeps work area neat, clean and free of more than a day's accumulation of lint.
- →Keeps hospital specialty linens separate and accounted for.
- →Follows both verbal and written instructions as situations change frequently.
- →Shakes out creases and sorts articles of like types into groups.
- →Keeps separate specialty items for different hospitals.
- →Follows both verbal and written instructions as situations change frequently.
- →Keeps pace with the speed of the ironer utilizing hand-eye coordination.
- →Possesses the ability to perform repetitive tasks.
- →Separates items determining the need for hand folding or ironing.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓Suitable for Federal employment, determined by a background investigation Selective Services Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959 Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.
