About the Role
The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period is October through April but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: October 2026 Open to the first 50 applicants. Applications must be submitted by 11:59 EST on the 'applicant cut-off' date (which may be sooner than 07/20/2026) to be considered.
What You'll Do
- →Major Duties: Operate large, complex, riding lawns mowers that have multiple or controlled cutting decks and other types of equipment i.e., lawn edging equipment, trimmers, blowers, etc.
- →Perform labor requiring incumbent to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- →Digs ditches, cleans gutters, shovels snow, etc.
- →Uses hand and power tools to assist in carpentry, plumbing etc.
- →Performs duties such as custodial, maintenance, and groundwork as needed.
- →Uses equipment and tools for paved and unpaved road maintenance.
- →The following information applies to Death Valley National Park duty location: "In employing individuals to perform any construction, maintenance, interpretation, or other service in the park, the Secretary (Selecting Official) shall, in so far as practical, give first preference to qualified members of the Tribe": (Timbisha Shoshone Homeland Act, Nov 2000).
- →To receive current preference eligibility, members of the Timbisha Shoshone Tribe must submit a copy (not the original) of the letter certifying their tribal membership.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship required.
- ✓Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- ✓Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- ✓You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties.
- ✓You will also submit a photocopy of your valid State issued driver's license prior to your first official motor vehicle operation, and again every year, or more frequently if management determines such need exists.
- ✓Lastly, you may be required to submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that discloses all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.
- ✓Please indicate in your application whether you possess a valid State driver's license.
- ✓You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards.
- ✓A uniform allowance will be provided.
- ✓You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
- ✓This position has an intermittent work schedule; you will be subject to call and will have no pre-scheduled work schedule.
- ✓There is no substitution of education for experience for Wage Grade (WG) positions.
