About the Role

The USPS OIG is seeking highly qualified applicants to fill multiple Investigative Analyst positions within the Office of Investigations. The successful candidate will provide analytical, investigative, administrative and basic intelligence support, as well as gather pertinent data from internal and external sources for analysis to streamline investigations and manage projects, as part of the HQ Criminal Intelligence and Program Coordination Division (CIPCD). What You'll Do

  • About the Position: As the Investigative Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting criminal and administrative investigations by conducting comprehensive data collection, research, and analysis across multiple information sources.
  • In this position, you will perform in-depth analytical work, develop data-driven solutions, and produce a variety of analytical products to assist agents and leadership in making informed decisions.
  • You will also contribute to special projects, prepare documentation such as requirements and training materials, and support training and conference activities.
  • In this role, you will leverage expert knowledge of structured and unstructured data, collaborate with other agencies, and share analytical expertise to strengthen investigative operations and advance the mission of the OIG.
  • A successful candidate will have relevant experience in: Performing comprehensive data collection and analysis, utilizing a variety of data sources to analyze trends, problems or other related issues of major importance in support of criminal and administrative investigations.
  • Leading or assisting with special projects by performing in-depth and ad-hoc analysis of information from multiple data sources to assist data informed decision making at all levels.
  • Researching, designing, and developing solutions using a range of investigative analysis and data analytics techniques, methods, and tools.
  • When necessary, preparing comprehensive project documentation to include requirements, test plans, user manuals, and training materials; managing project communications internal to the project team and with the customer.
  • Assisting with training and conference development which may include presentations to large audiences.
  • Using expert level knowledge to identify and develop sources of information, through the use of structured and unstructured data files, criminal intelligence databases, public information sources, internal Postal Service databases, reference manuals, and audit and law enforcement reports.
  • Independently researching, extracting, evaluating, and interpreting collected data and information as actionable intelligence for field agents to detect, prevent, and respond to fraudulent activities.
  • Creating a variety of analytic products, such as relational databases, summary tables, comparison graphs, temporal analysis charts, association, and link analysis charts, to support audits and investigations.
  • Interacting with other agencies and building relationships with peers to share information and learn the latest developments in analytical tools and techniques to efficiently assist the OIG with mission related work.
  • Developing substantial knowledge of database applications and sharing expertise with coworkers in support of agency goals and objectives.

  • Education must be accredited by an institution recognized by the U.S.
  • Department of Education.

Benefits

  • Position Level & Compensation USPS OIG is an Excepted Service agency and uses a Pay Banding system equivalent to the Federal GS scale.
  • This position is at the Journey Band level, equivalent to a GS-13.
  • Salary range for this position is $106,437.00 - $172,980.00, including locality pay for all announced locations.

  • Grade and salary are determined upon candidate's education and professional experience.
  • Fair Labor Standards Act (FSLA) status: Exempt (non-exempt employees are entitled to overtime pay; exempt employees are not).
  • Comprehensive Benefits USPS and OIG employees transitioned from Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB) Program to the Postal Service Health Benefits (PSHB) Program effective January 01, 2025.
