The Technical Career Field (TCF) is a national workforce development program within VHA that was designed to replenish technical staff in critically identified positions. This position is a developmental position in logistics intended to provide experience and both formal and on-the-job training in the following: Policies, directives, operations and practices in inventory management.
What You'll Do
- →The Cincinnati VA Medical Center (CVAMC) is a two-division campus located in Cincinnati, OH and Fort Thomas, KY serving 15 counties in Southwest OH, Northern Kentucky, and Southeast Indiana with 6 Community Based Outpatient Clinics located in Bellevue, KY; Florence, KY; Lawrenceburg, IN; Hamilton, OH; Clermont County, OH, and Georgetown, OH.
- →The CVAMC also supports two off main campus locations in the Cincinnati area via an Eye Center and Mental Health Outreach Community Division.
- →The TCF career fields represent those technical fields where VA-specific knowledge and experience is desirable for success in the field.
- →Individuals selected follow a formal training plan for two years during which they are trained, coached, and supervised by a preceptor.
- →Preceptors are selected annually, through an extensive application process, for their technical expertise, their commitment to training and the suitability of their facility as a training location. *Selectees will be required to sign Mobility, Training, and Continued Service Agreements.
- →This is a developmental position leading to a GS-9, performing assignments intended to broaden skills and provide practical experience leading to progressively more complex assignments performed under progressively less supervision.
- →The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met.
- →Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.Major Duties: Evaluates requirements for assigned inventory items.
- →Uses various established and commonly applied supply principles and tools, concepts and methodologies to determine evaluate supply system performance.
- →Examines fluctuations in usage rates, cost, availability for established suppliers, alternative sources of supply and other similar conditions.
- →Prepares recommendations for procurement of equipment and material.
- →Prepares data/information analysis for acquisition planning associated with expendable supplies/materials and capital equipment.
- →Supports acquisition personnel in developing requirements, utilizing mandatory sources and standardization of sources.
- →Analyzes stock level and usage history to determine funds required and execution of budget plans for assigned inventory.
