About the Role

This position serves as an Inventory Management Specialist in the Supply Chain Management Service in Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center, responsible for the inventory and management of all expendable supplies and durable medical equipment in the assigned areas.

What You'll Do

  • Major duties include, but are not limited to the following: Responsible for the management and control of an assigned class of expendable material.
  • Serves as a point of contact for the coordination of material support and resolution of logistic problems.
  • Conducts forecasting and quantitative analysis.
  • Conducts short, mid and long-term advanced planning for expendable items and DME.
  • Conducts spot checks; and complies with special requirements for sensitive equipment.
  • Participates in the creation of acquisition strategies to acquire and purchase DME.
  • Manages inventory, sets initial stock and par levels and reorder points.
  • Conducts analysis of potential cost savings, efficiencies, and process improvements.
  • Conducts wall-to-wall and periodic inventories.
  • Utilizes automated inventory management system, such as General Inventory Package (GIP) or other equivalent system, to maintain current inventory data.
  • Analyzes inventory management reports.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met.
  • Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
