What You'll Do

  • As an International Economist (Pathways Recent Graduates), you will perform the following duties: Use computer applications to provide economic research and maintain databases for econometric models.
  • Collaborate with senior economists to prepare preliminary interpretive reports and communicate research findings, analyses, and project information.
  • Locate and collect relevant data to analyze a specified problem and update databases for econometric models using tables and charts to illustrate analyses.
  • Coordinate the detailed study planning; collection and compilation of data from primary or secondary sources.
  • This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other International Economist (Pathways Recent Graduates) GS-0110-9 full performance level, GS,13, positions within the Department of Commerce in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.

Requirements

  • Applicants must have completed, within the previous two-years, a qualifying associate's, bachelor's, master's, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution.
  • Exceptions are made for veterans, as defined in 5 USC 2108 , who, due to military service obligations, were precluded from applying to the Recent Graduate Program during the two-year eligibility period described above.
  • Veterans have a full two-year period of eligibility upon their release or discharge from active duty.
  • The eligibility period shall not extend beyond six years from the date of academic completion.
  • This position is being recruited with an opportunity for non-competitive conversion eligibility to a permanent OR term position upon completion of all Recent Graduate program requirements.
  • Conversion is not mandatory nor guaranteed (see Other Information).
  • You must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position.
  • This position requires a Secret-Level Security Clearance.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain the required clearance.
  • You must successfully pass a background investigation.
  • This may include a credit check, a review of financial issues, as well as certain criminal offenses and illegal use of possession of drugs.
  • A trial period may be required.
  • Selective Service: Males born after 12/31/59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service (see https://www.sss.gov/).
  • If you receive a conditional offer of employment for this position, you will be required to complete an Optional Form 306, Declaration for Federal Employment, and to sign and certify the accuracy of all information in your application.
