The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Intermediate Care Technician (ICT) Program is a program designed to hire transitioning service, National Guard, Reserve, and Veteran corpsmen, combat medics and medical technicians into positions at VA Medical Centers as an integral part of the medical team. Candidates generally qualify based on U.S. Armed Forces experience or equivalent education.
What You'll Do
- →This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until September 30, 2026 or until the position is filled.
- →Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full-time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
- →Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) The Intermediate Care Technician is an occupational specialty, especially for former military combat medics, medical technicians, and corpsmen.
- →As an ICT, you will operate within clearly defined clinical competencies.
- →This position serves as an advance technician for outpatient care settings such as; primary care, mental health, and specialty clinics.
- →As an ICT Generalist you may serve in a medical center, community-based outpatient clinic (CBOC), mobile medical unit or may have virtual/remote assignments.
- →The clinical activities for the hospital will include but are not limited to: Vital signs.
- →Examples: vital signs, 12-lead electrocardiogram (EKG).
- →Point-of-care (POC).
- →Examples: Abbott hand-held blood analyzer (I-STAT), glucometer.
- →Equipment and surgical instrumentation set up .
- →Examples: skin biopsies (excisional, shave, punch).
- →Treatments and interventions.
- →Examples: Cryotherapy, incision and drainage, ambulation, and Foley coude' catheter insertion.
