You will serve as the Integrated Fire Control Lead Engineer in the Mission Systems Group, Avionics Engineering Department, Avionics Systems Engineering Division, Advanced Architecture Branch & Special Programs of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV. The senior project lead will deliver critical PMA/DoD support across full-lifecycle R&D, system-of-systems integration, sensing, and data fusion as well as drive strategic roadmaps, mentor engineering teams, and advise command leadership on technology transition
What You'll Do
- →You will execute strategic roadmaps, providing technical guidance for high-priority R and D in sensing, application integration, and cross-platform interoperability, with a focus on sensing, data fusion, and communications.
- →You will lead high-priority tech development, prototyping, and integration lifecycle for key R and D initiatives, delivering SOWs, test strategies, and milestone/impact briefings to command leadership.
- →You will partner with program flight plan leads to develop strategic roadmaps for System of Systems integration priorities, ensuring alignment with NAWCAD objectives.
- →You will define R and D priorities with CTO, STILO, and S and T managers; maintain domain expertise in sensors, networks, and interoperability to align strategic capabilities across NAWCAD.
- →You will advise NAWCAD command on cooperative sensing readiness, maturity, and transition timelines, serving as technical advisor to guide critical research and acquisition decisions.
- →You will mentor team engineers and physicists on system integration, cultivating high-performing project leads to guide cooperative sensing from concept to programs of record.
- →You will engage with external groups and interface with DoD program and project managers to build collaborative opportunities through working groups, co-development initiatives, integration efforts, technical conferences, and direct outreach.
- →You will prepare and modify avionics procurement specifications, drawings and technical documentation for new replacement, modified items of avionics equipment and/or the development and review of avionics systems research.
- →You will lead the design, modification, acquisition, integration, validation and final approval of the avionics equipment.
- →You will review and develop Statements of Work (SOWs), conduct detailed Technical Evaluations of research and development programs and source selection activities, and review of Contract Data Requirements List submittals.
- →You will lead airworthiness efforts including Interim Flight Clearances, technical directives, NATOPS/NATIP changes, Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), and certifications.
- →You will demonstrate Networks and Data Links experience, Weapon System Integration experience, Combat Decision Aid development experience, Platform Host Mission Computer Integration experience.
Requirements
- ✓OR Combination of Education and Experience- College-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.
- ✓The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following:1.
- ✓Professional registration or licensure -- Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT)1 , or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
- ✓Absent other means of qualifying under this standard, those applicants who achieved such registration by means other than written test (e.g., State grandfather or eminence provisions) are eligible only for positions that are within or closely related to the specialty field of their registration.
- ✓For example, an applicant who attains registration through a State Board's eminence provision as a manufacturing engineer typically would be rated eligible only for manufacturing engineering positions.2.
- ✓Written Test -- Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE)2 examination or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board in the various States, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico. 3.
- ✓Specified academic courses -- Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A.
- ✓The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in paragraph A.4.
- ✓Ordinarily there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
- ✓(The above examples of related curricula are not all inclusive.) (1310): Degree: Physics; or related degree that included at least 24 semester hours in physics.
- ✓OR Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in physics totaling at least 24 semester hours, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
- ✓(1520): Degree: Mathematics or the equivalent of a major that included at least 24 semester hours in mathematics.
- ✓OR Combination of Education and Experience -- courses equivalent to a major in mathematics (including at least 24 semester hours in mathematics), as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
- ✓(1550): Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science OR Bachelor's Degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science.
