About the Role
You will serve as a INTERDISCIPLINARY ENGINEER/PHYSICIST in the ORDNANCE TEST & EVAL DIVISION, WEAPONS & ENERGETICS DEPARTMENT of NAVAIRWARCENWPNDIV CHINA LAKE.
What You'll Do
- →You will help lead research and development efforts within the 6.1-6.4 Technology Readiness Level (TRL) to acquire and develop new knowledge and new technology in the field of detonation science to meet fleet needs.
- →You will interact with internal and external sponsors and program offices to acquire funding for the research and development efforts and lead a team of scientists, engineers and technicians in the execution of the research and development efforts.
- →You will help train and mentor scientists, engineers, and technicians and stay current in fundamental and state of the art detonation science principles, diagnostics, and experimentation.
- →You will maintain a substantial independent publication record.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
