About the Role
You will serve as either an ELECTRICAL ENGINEER, ELECTRONICS ENGINEER, PHYSICIST, or MATHEMATICIAN in the AVIONICS ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT, TACTICAL MARITIME SENSING BRANCH of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV.
What You'll Do
- →You will lead high priority quantum efforts to apply new technology for projects in undeveloped areas of research.
- →You will develop quantum physicists and engineers with the aim of instilling good research practices for effective teams and project leads that are capable of realizing quantum technology from concept to project planning and execution.
- →You will contribute high-level presentations, patents, peer-reviewed publications and conference publications regarding theoretical and experimental investigations into disruptive technologies, prototype development and fundamental physics research.
- →You will engage with external quantum groups and DoD program managers in order to build relationships and collaboration opportunities through working groups, quantum or quantum adjacent conferences and direct communication.
- →You will perform project planning and execution of high visibility efforts by soliciting funding, completing milestone reports, and presenting events, results and project impacts to command leadership.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: 0850/0855 Series: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions. 1310 Series: Successful completion of a degree in physics, or a related degree that included at least 24 semester hours in physics.
- ✓The courses must have included a fundamental course in general physics and, in addition, courses in any two of the following: electricity and magnetism, heat, light, mechanics, modern physics, and sound.
- ✓OR Successful completion of a combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in physics totaling at least 24 semester hours, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
- ✓The courses must have included a fundamental course in general physics and, in addition, courses in any two of the following: electricity and magnetism, heat, light, mechanics, modern physics, and sound. 1520 Series: Successful completion of a degree in mathematics, or an equivalent major that included at least 24 semester hours in mathematics.
- ✓The total course work must have included differential and integral calculus and, in addition, four advanced mathematics courses requiring calculus or equivalent mathematics courses as a prerequisite.
- ✓OR Successful completion of a combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in mathematics (including at least 24 semester hours in mathematics), plus appropriate experience or additional education.
- ✓The total course work must have included differential and integral calculus and, in addition, four advanced mathematics courses requiring calculus or equivalent mathematics courses as a prerequisite.
