You will serve as a INTERDISCIPLINARY COMPUTER SCIENTIST/GENERAL ENGINEER in the Air Traffic Control & Landing Systems Division of NAWCAD WEBSTER OUTLYING FIELD.
What You'll Do
- →You will cover the entire defense system life cycle, including concept definition, design, development, test and evaluation, acquisition, logistics support, software support, and product improvement.
- →You will develop and review work and written correspondence, including technical reports, roadmap briefs, and technical documentation.
- →You will be responsible for major system development or the direction of technology-based research which has the highest significance to the agency's needs You will direct the planning of resources to accomplish major blocks of engineering endeavor which may involve the expenditure of major portions of the nation's industrial base and long-range commitments of agency dollar allocations.
- →You will have authority to make or recommend tradeoffs between cost, schedule and performance.
- →He/she may frequently direct the technical effort of other personnel.
- →You will assign work by providing administrative and policy direction in terms of broadly defined missions or functions of the agency.
Requirements
- ✓FOR THE 0801 JOB SERIES: Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
- ✓FOR THE 1550 JOB SERIES: - Bachelor's degree in computer science OR - Bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science.
- ✓At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.
- ✓All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
