About the Role
You will serve as an INSTRUCTIONAL SYSTEMS SPECIALIST in the NAVAL INFORMATION WARFARE TRAINING DETACHMENT NORFOLK of NAVMETOCPRODEVCEN.
What You'll Do
- →You will develop, update, present and distribute training courses of instruction, multimedia graphic visual aids, tests and surveys, and other instructional materials supporting all phases of Meteorological and Oceanographic (METOC) operations.
- →You will maintain, update and develop new lessons during instruction by reviewing various government and academic institution publications and by researching the latest developments in new technology.
- →You will establish and maintain professional contacts with leading practitioners, researchers and others in education and training institutions related to METOC equipment, systems, programs of record and associated software applications.
- →You will act as an authoritative consultant and develop, manage and conduct technical training programs of advanced techniques in a wide variety of METOC related areas.
- →You will serve as the organization’s primary education specialist in training methodology and provide advice and guidance at the subject matter expert level to IWTD Norfolk and other METOC commands served by IWTD Norfolk.
- →You will develop Business Case Analysis, Front-End Analysis and Type Commander (TYCOM) approved curriculum including courseware supporting the learning objectives validated by the Aerographer’s Mate (AG) Job Duty Task Analysis and leadership.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess A degree that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours appropriate to the work of the position to be filled.
- ✓The course work must have included study in at least four of the following five areas: Learning theory, psychology of learning, educational psychology: Study of learning theories as they relate to the systematic design, development, and validation of instructional material.
- ✓Instructional design practices: Study of the principles and techniques used in designing training programs, developing design strategy and models, and applying design methods to the improvement of instructional effectiveness.
- ✓Educational evaluation: Study of the techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of instructional/educational programs, including developing written and performance tests and survey instruments, and determining reliability and validity of evaluation instruments.
- ✓Instructional product development: Study of the techniques appropriate for developing training materials, including identifying learner characteristics, specifying objectives, applying training strategy, validating training materials, and evaluating training.
- ✓Computers in education and training: Study of the application of computers in education and training, including selecting appropriate computer software.
