What You'll Do

  • This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Safety & Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), Gulf of America Region (GOAR), District Field Operations, Houma District, Productions Ops Inspection Unit B, in Houma, LA .
  • At the full performance level (GS-12) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: 1. .
  • Serves as the lead in training and in making recommendations for inspectors.
  • Assists other inspectors as needed on complex inspection issues. 2.
  • Conducts inspections of production measurement/verification, pipelines, site security activities and operations to ensure compliance with all BSEE and environmental regulations.
  • This includes facilities with known safety and environmental problems or hazards, such as those which contain H2S and sulphur. 3.
  • Maintains facilities compliance with safety and environmental requirements for production operations that include new/advanced systems and issues that regularly arise. 4.
  • Orders the shut-in of facilities, operations or parts of operations which pose an immediate threat to personnel, property, or the environment. 5.
  • Prepares incidents of noncompliance issued, ensuring they are properly prepared, completed and properly references the National Potential Item of Non-Compliance (PINC) List. 6.
  • Completes BSEE Form 182 and clearly explains violations and enforcement actions to operators.
  • The Bureau of Safety & Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) has determined that the duties of this position ???????are suitable for telework only during and emergency or natural disaster.
  • Salary Information GS-12; Step 1: $103,225 to Step 10: $134,195 per annum.
  • First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level.
  • This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available.
