This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol, Superintendent, House Office Buildings, Assistant Superintendent, Facility Operations Division, Mechanical Systems Branch, Mechanical Systems Day, Evening or Night Sections.
What You'll Do
- →The incumbent serves as Industrial Equipment Mechanic.
- →The tour of duty is Monday-Friday 5:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
- →Duties include, but are not limited to: Troubleshoot, repair and overhaul automotive and industrial equipment such as garage sweepers and scrubbers, riding floor varnishers and scrubbers, forklifts and pallet jacks.
- →Maintain and repair gasoline and diesel engines.
- →Troubleshoot and installs alternators, clutches, drive shafts, propellers, bearings, struts, gauges, pumps and other components.
- →Set up and operate machine tools to manufacture component parts or re-machine existing parts.
- →Charge and service batteries.
- →Change oil and replace filters.
- →Remove, replace and repair and adjust parts such as belts, hoses, gaskets, seals, pumps, plugs, points, condensers, clutches, brakes, tires and wheels.
- →Repair problems in electrical, hydraulic and vacuum systems.
- →Reset circuit breakers; replace electronic control modules and diodes; clean, adjust and replace parts on vacuum and hydraulic pumps; adjust or replace mechanical and hydraulic transmissions.
- →Repair mechanical and hydraulic baling machines and overhead garage door mechanisms.
- →Remove and replace hydraulic cylinders.
- →Replace seals and chain links.
