About the Role
Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Human Resources Management, Talent Management Directorate, CBP Hiring Center, Pre-employment and Scheduling Branch, located in: Bloomington, MN. Minneapolis, MN.
What You'll Do
- →In this position, you will serve as a Human Resources Assistant, providing administrative, clerical and technical support in the day-to-day administration of the Suitability Support team.
- →This support includes providing guidance to the staff on applying rules and procedures concerning background investigation pre-employment requirements.
- →This position starts at a salary of $49,505.00 (GS-06, Step 1) to $71,517.00 (GS-07, Step 10).

- →Typical Work assignments include: Assisting applicants and employees in preparing, initiating, compiling, reviewing and processing background investigation documentation, medical appointments/documentation, interviews, drug testing, fitness requirements, final offers and academy scheduling.
- →Accessing personnel records to provide information on the status of applications and resolves inquiries requested by the caller (applicant, agency representative, and supervisor).
- →Processing a full range of applications and actions, including those that have unusual conditions or issues requiring deviation from standard procedures to complete the action.
- →Applying a wide range of human resources concepts, laws, policies, and regulation to address and resolve human resources issues.
- →Utilizing a personal computer and a variety of office software programs (MS Suite, USA Staffing, Salesforce, Information Security Management System, Electronic Questionnaires for Investigations Processing and SharePoint) to review, enter data, complete forms, correct errors or omissions as well as to extract, revise/sort information in HR documents, files, records and databases.
