This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: As a journey level Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic, performs the full range of overhaul and repair work on heavy-duty mobile equipment and vehicles powered by internal combustion engines (gasoline; butane, diesel or multi-fuel).
What You'll Do
- →Removes engines or power packs from the vehicles.
- →Removes transmission, completely disassembles, and replaces defective selector rods, gears. pressure pump, bearings, clutch discs, pressure plates, bands, clutches, pumps, starters, bearings, valve bodies, etc.
- →Removes from vehicles, disassembles repairs and/or replaces pinion bearings, axle bearings, ring gears, pinion gear, differential housing, universal joints, etc.
- →Repairs and adjusts power and mechanical steering systems and as required, does hull and body work which may require modifying, straightening, welding, sanding and painting.
- →Diagnoses and repairs fuel system failures; repairs and replaces carburetors, fuel pumps, and fuel lines.
- →Performs engine tune-ups and final adjustments.
