The Health Technician (Transportation) is assigned to Nursing Operations. The primary responsibilities of the incumbent are the safe and timely transporting of patients and facilitating patient transport throughout the Medical Center. The incumbent will support every clinic within the Medical Center including all ambulatory clinics and all inpatient wards on all floors of the Atrium and Emergency areas, all floors of the main bed tower in the main hospital, and all floors of CARES tower.
What You'll Do
- →The Health Technician (Transportation) duties include, but are not limited to: Expert of all locations of the medical center and have a deep understanding of patient transportation principles.
- →Ensure that special medical equipment (oxygen cannulas, masks, and oxygen tanks or indwelling/ex-dwelling catheters, etc.) is correctly positioned for transport and operating properly.
- →Responsible for the safe transport of specimens, records, medications, and patient support equipment to and from patient care areas.
- →Adhere to safety and infection control policies.
- →Facilitate arrangements to obtain assistance (such as initiating a Code Blue & Rapid Response, redirecting the patient transport to the Emergency Department, and other related actions).
- →Responsible for knowing how to use computer systems, telephone, and other communication systems (such as Vocera) to coordinate the timely transportation of patients using the healthcare systems tracking methods.
- →Timely completion of transport duties.
- →Monitor patients during transport to minimize negative patient outcomes.
- →Comply with all safety/fire prevention rules/regulations.
- →Use protective equipment when required and provided.
- →Promptly report all accidents and notify supervisor of unsafe/unhealthful conditions in the workplace.
