About the Position: This position is located within Tripler Army Medical Center in the Directorate of Nursing Operating Rooms in Honolulu, Hawaii. Tripler Army Medical Center is a tobacco-free workplace. Tobacco products include, but are not limited to, smoking, smokeless tobacco, and electronic nicotine delivery devices.
What You'll Do
- →Transport patients from hospital units to the Operating Room, ensuring safe transportation and reviewing patient records for preoperative compliance.
- →Screen patients for completeness of preoperative documentation and ensures patient readiness by reviewing medical history, confirming identity, and discussing the procedure.
- →Comfort and support patients experiencing anxiety or fear about surgery.
- →Prior to patient entering the operating room, ensures primary equipment, such as robotic surgery platforms are functional, operating, troubleshoots if necessary, and ensures the sterility of equipment.
- →Serve as a scrub technician during surgery, selecting, assembling, and organizing the necessary instruments and equipment based on the surgical procedure and the surgeon’s preference card.
- →Clean operating room after surgery, removes and disposes of soiled and/or contaminated materials; changes linen; washes, disassembles, sterilizes, and reassembles instruments.
