About the Role

This position, located at the Oklahoma City VA Health Care System, Office of the Assistant Director, serves as a Health System Specialist, responsible for the review, planning, and coordination of the delivery of health care programs throughout the facility.

What You'll Do

  • Major duty include but are not limited to: Responsibility for the study, analysis, evaluation, and formulation of recommendations for the development and improvement of administrative management and operating programs for the assigned organizations/departments.
  • Knowledge to identify and participate in resolving the full range of management problems and assists in the development of proposed management programs on a service, inter-service medical center or VISN-wide basis.
  • Knowledge to provide back-up support as directed for Executive Assistant staff in the Executive Office due to vacancies to minimize disruption to executive office operations.
  • Uses VA data systems, the Internet, and other sources of data to provide reliable and up to date data to support decision-making tools and recommendations.
  • Ensures staff maintain training and will support an active inventory of sample documents available for the organization CORs to tailor to their service needs.
  • He/she will achieve COR-2 certification and serve as a COR as directed.
  • Identifies and proposes solutions to management problems which are of major importance to developing and planning program direction and prepares recommendations which impact the way in which planning and implementation is carried out.
  • Analyzes management techniques, practices processes and styles for improving organizational effectiveness and effectiveness and efficiency using various analytic techniques, many of a complex nature.
  • Prepares study reports and findings that include substantiative and innovative recommendations to improve the effectiveness, efficiency and productivity of the medical facility health care program.
  • Liaison for any patient flow, clinical, administrative and system redesign-related performance improvement initiatives.
  • Responsibility for data management and analysis, process improvement, project management and project planning and will frequently work with clinical and non-clinical staff and Leadership at all levels.
