About the Role

Delivers fundamental knowledge-based care to assigned clients while developing technical skills, Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on aga-specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Follows procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team.

What You'll Do

  • Duties and responsibilities of the Geriatrics and Extended Care Supervisory Assistant Nurse Manager include, but are not limited to: Geriatrics and Extended Care Supervisory Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) supports the Nurse Manager (NM) in overseeing operations of a nursing unit/patient care area.
  • This role combines clinical proficiency with leadership responsibilities and is often considered part of the succession plan for future NM positions, providing opportunities to develop management skills and prepare for higher-level leadership.
  • Responsible and accountable for the direction and oversight of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance.
  • Applying clinical knowledge/judgment to lead staff involvement in planning, decision­ making, and evaluating outcomes; providing feedback to the NM who ultimately ensures nursing personnel provide timely nursing care that complies with generally accepted standards of practice Engages in professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth.
  • Adheres to ethical principles in decision-making, fostering accountability at personal, organizational, and staff levels.
  • Aligns nursing/clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes, participating in strategy planning and execution.
  • Promotes a workplace positively to achieve the organization's vision and mission.
  • They provide leadership in their assigned unit(s), including the Community Living Center (CLC), Inpatient and Outpatient Hospice/Palliative Care, Home Based Primary Care, and others as they are developed.
  • Responsible for participating within unit based and/or organizational level Shared Governance councils, utilizing clinical expertise, evidence-based practice, and knowledge to assist with finding solutions to problems or issues to improve the quality care provided to our veterans.
  • Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Authorized to highly qualified and eligible new federal appointees or former federal employees with at least a 90-day break in service.

Requirements

  • Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
  • Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
