About the Role

This vacancy is for a GS-0801-13, GENERAL ENGINEER - Senior Construction Manager located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, SILC-FDCC-PROJECT EXECUTION BRANCH-SEATTLE WA in SEATTLE, Washington.

What You'll Do

  • You will serve as a GENERAL ENGINEER - Senior Construction Manager and be responsible to serve as a Construction/Design Project Manager within a multi-disciplinary architectural and engineering team on design-build projects.
  • Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
  • Typical work assignments include: Lead, manage, and direct complex engineering and architectural projects by adapting standard precedents, modifying established practices, and developing innovative solutions to resolve highly diverse and technical engineering challenges.
  • Direct and execute all assigned projects as a technical authority, independently providing expert recommendations and policy guidance to ensure final submissions are viable, technically accurate, and accepted with minimal revision.
  • Direct the interpretation of broad, non-specific technical and regulatory policies by applying seasoned judgment to deviate from traditional practices, resolve unprecedented challenges, and establish new engineering methodologies.
  • Command and execute the resolution of complex, unprecedented engineering challenges by interpreting broad regulatory policies, departing from traditional practices, and establishing new technical standards.
  • Avert and resolve critical, highly unusual engineering problems and policy gaps by pioneering innovative technical approaches and initiating proactive administrative and socioeconomic actions to prevent project delays and cost escalations.
