As the Space Reactors Nuclear Launch Authorization Manager, you will serve as NASA's principal lead for regulatory procedures supporting space nuclear reactor launch authorization and NEPA compliance. You will facilitate launch authorization activities for space fission systems in accordance with National Presidential Memorandum-20 and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), while supporting Federal radiological response and recovery planning activities.
What You'll Do
- →Oversee and manage the Nuclear Launch and Approval Process.
- →Coordinate, develop, and execute high-level negotiation strategies for engagement with other government agencies to meet the national regulations that enable the launch of each specific space fission system under development.
- →Actively engage with NASA and other government agencies to ensure timely and accurate execution of work needed to ensure National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance for the specific space fission systems.
- →Provide Strategic Suggestions, Planning, and Support to the negotiated Federal Agency with Primary Authority for Radiological Contingency Planning for the specific space fission systems.
- →Develop detailed plans and documentation and oversee execution to meet all NASA, NEPA, and NSPM-20 requirements, including development of annual reports on the launch of planned space fission systems.
Requirements
- ✓If you did not complete a qualifying bachelor's degree, you may be eligible if you have obtained a graduate degree in an AST qualifying field, as listed above.
- ✓Degrees in engineering technology are not considered qualifying for this position.
