About the Role
Syracuse VA Medical Center is seeking one full-time Registered Nurse for the Gastroenterology Clinic within the Specialty Department. The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong integration of biopsychosocial principles, cognitive skills, and technical competency while delivering high-quality patient care. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care across age-specific needs. Preferred Experience: Gastroenterology (GI) experience
What You'll Do
- →Responsible for providing competent, evidence-based specialty care to assigned patients with oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants as appropriate to the clinic setting.
- →Provides patient care, care coordination, health promotion, health education and coaching on wellness, disease prevention, and chronic care management.
- →Assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization.
- →Practice includes directing other providers.
- →Partners with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team to promote effective and safe transitions across the health care continuum, including the Veteran's goals of care.
- →Has fundamental specialty care experience with the situations in which they are ultimately expected to perform, integrating theoretical concepts, basic critical thinking skills, and technically skilled practice.
- →Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
