About the Role
The primary purpose of the position is to provide groundskeeping and gardening throughout the facility as assigned. Facilities include inpatient care, outpatient care, nursing home care, and various administrative support buildings. Incumbent is expected to have skills in gardening and groundkeeper maintenance and upkeep.
What You'll Do
- →Major duties include but not limited to: Performs a full scale of groundskeeping tasks to include seasonal planting, fertilizing, transplanting, pruning, chemical application as necessary and in accordance with specific directions, and landscape planning and design.
- →Maintains of all garden and lawn areas surrounding, and within, the facility.
- →Maintains the landscape this facility in a healthy, disease-free and attractive condition.
- →The incumbent will provide corrective action for problems involving plant management, insect and disease control for both exterior plantings and exterior plantings and interior plants.
- →Performs pressure washing driveways, building exteriors, sidewalks, exterior "welcome mats" railings and other miscellaneous landscape features and adornments to maintain aesthetics and cleanly appearance.
- →Operates a variety of hand and power garden tools such as fertilizer spreader, portable sparer, hedge trimmers, weed eaters, pruning shears, etc.
- →Responsible for the proper operation, storage and maintenance of equipment such as commercial pressure washers, power lawn mowers, edger's trimmers, pruners, weed eaters, sprayers, and miscellaneous hand tools, including but not limited to shovels, hoes, rakes, shears, garden saws, chain saws, etc.
- →Thoroughly familiar with power equipment, such as: Floor machines, vacuums, battery scrubbers, carpet shampoo machines, low pressure spray units, etc.
- →Incumbent is responsible for independent scheduling and accomplishments of tile floor maintenance, carpet, and upholstery care, ceiling cleaning, wall washing.
- →Responsible for assisting in housekeeping operations during tour of duty and carrying out all duties assigned by Housekeeping supervisory staff as they relate to the sanitation and cleanliness of the hospital.
- →Transportation of supplies, and/or material throughout the VASNHCS network to include but not limited to East Campus, Vet Center, Capitol Hill homeless program, Carson City, Winnemucca Fallon, Auburn, and Susanville CBOCs will be required.
- →Transports small quantity of hazardous waste from offsite locations to main hospital waste site.
