The Food Service Worker works in the Nutrition and Food Service and performs tasks with several steps or a sequence of tasks that requires attention to work operations. They follow set procedures in accomplishing repetitive assignments and follow an established sequence of work such as working in the dish room, passing trays, portioning cold foods and dipping hot foods.
What You'll Do
- →This Food Service Worker position is located within the Nutrition & Food Service at the VA Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio.
- →Performing other duties as assigned.
- →Work Schedule: Intermittent.
- →There is no defined work schedule as work will be determined based on the needs of the service.
- →Position Description Title/PD#: Food Service Worker/PD99921-S Physical Efforts and Work Conditions: Work is performed in kitchen areas where the steam and heat from cooking and dishwashing equipment often cause uncomfortably high temperatures and humidity.
- →Performs work requiring light to moderate physical.
- →May be required to perform heavy work, such as scouring and scrubbing large size cooking utensils and pushing heavy carts and trucks in unloading, storing, and delivering supplies.
- →Subject to continuous standing and walking, and frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending.
- →Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 20 pounds unassisted and occasionally lift or move objects weighing more than 40 pounds with the assistance of others Chillicothe VA Medical Center provides primary care and specialty health services, including mental health services, spinal cord injury treatment, women's health care, nutrition counseling, social work, and more.
- →The medical center operates multiple VA community clinics located in Athens, Cambridge, Lancaster, Marietta, Portsmouth, and Wilmington.
- →Chillicothe VAMC is a teaching hospital offering clinical rotations in medical, dental, and mental health specialties to 200+ health profession trainees at all levels per year.
- →We have over 50 academic affiliates, including Adena Medical Center, Ohio State University, Ohio University, West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, Hocking College, and Rio Grande University, etc.
- →Our medical center has almost 1,400 employees who provide care to over 20,000 Veterans each year.
- →In 2021, we recorded 898 hospital admissions and 221,979 outpatient visits.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
