This Food Service Worker Leader position is located within the Nutrition & Food Service at the Northern Indiana Health Care System (NIHCS) in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
What You'll Do
- →The duties of the Food Service Worker Leader includes but are not limited to: Training Responsible for training Food Service employees in the Food Service and Production Section Provides training to lower-grade employees and delivers on-the-job instruction to new Food Service and Production staff as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
- →Trains lower-grade employees in safe food-handling practices using FDA Food Code-approved training programs, such as ServSafe.
- →Trains new employees in departmental standard operating procedures.
- →Provides ongoing and new training in food safety, service techniques, customer service, and Nutrition and Food Service policy.
- →Leading Work Works with employees to plan and organize duties that support work objectives and promote a collaborative team effort.
- →Makes necessary adjustments when unforeseen circumstances arise that affect staffing requirements or operational methods within the service.
- →Maintains a safe, clean, and well-organized work environment that supports employees in performing their duties efficiently and effectively.
- →Assists with and participates in quality improvement projects as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
- →Communicates significant day-to-day events to the immediate supervisor and seeks guidance when changes to established procedures or policies occur.
- →Ensures proper food-handling techniques and good personal hygiene are consistently practiced in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
